Trash

Residential Solid Waste

Canann Road - collection is on Mondays.

All other Gerald City residents - collection is on Tuesdays.

Trash containers shall be placed at the curb for collection but shall not be so placed until after 6:00 P.M. on the day next preceding the regularly scheduled collection day. Containers shall be removed from the curb no later than 8:00 P.M. on the day of collection.

As of February 8, 2018, the City of Gerald and Swinger Sanitation have entered into a partnership to provide residential solid waste collection for residents of the City. Per Ordinance No. 865, Swinger Sanitation is the only hauling company residents may use for solid waste collection; commercial users can continue to use any hauler they choose.

For the low price of $14.50/month, residents can receive once-weekly trash collection, a 96-gallon roller cart to use for trash. Senior citizen residents can get the same services for $13.50/month and can get a smaller, 35-gallon cart by calling the Swinger office at 573-885-7596 or 877-407-8261 and requesting such services.

Swinger Sanitation offers special accommodations for seniors or disabled residents who have difficulty moving the roller cart. If you are interested in these accommodations, please call the Swinger office using one of the phone numbers listed above.

Section 230.020 of the Gerald Municipal Code no residents or persons shall burn or cause to be burned any straw, hay, leaves, branches, or any vegetation waste, without first obtaining a permit from the local Fire Department. The burning of garbage, old tires, oily waste, trash, combustible materials, lumber, paper, sweepings, or other materials that cause noxious fumes is prohibited.

Using appropriate ways to dispose of our trash keeps Gerald clean. Piles of accumulated trash and pieces of blowing litter are not only bad for our health and the environment, but they are also bad for the image of our community. Please help keep Gerald clean and safe.

If you have any questions about residential trash collection in Gerald, please do not hesitate to contact City Hall at 573-764-3340 or Ronnie Voight, Director of Operations, Swinger Sanitation, at 573-885-7596 or rvoight@swingersanitation.com. By having trash, you are helping to keep our community and our environment clean and healthy!
