Planning & Zoning

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the 1st Tuesday of each month and are responsible for any zoning changes and proper enforcement that may be needed. They also assist Gerald citizens with proper procedures and documents of any and all zoning amendments, subdivisions, lot consolidations, alley vacation, etc; as well as makes recommendations for approval or non-approval for above-mentioned applications with all necessary documentations (can be found within the city ordinances) to the city council. Planning and Zoning Commissioners also review building permit applications and residential inspection applications. Although it has no direct power, it is expected to make considered recommendations to the city council on actions that need to be taken.
